Finally got round to renting out this much talked about movie of last year, and thought it was very good. If you arnt in with the know on Sin City and it's history (like myself) basically it's a movie version of a series of dark, sleek, violent, graphic novels by Frank Miller.
Sin City is a concoction of violent, bloody, visually stunning stories that include good cops, bad cops, ladies of the night, killers, and every other type of scumbag.
The city itself is a mix between Gotham City and some crime filled location out of a GTA game.
The movie works very well. You get the sense this is more than just another comic book to movie transition. The black and white look of the film with a splash of colour here and there makes it stand out from the usual comic book conversion.
In many ways it's very kill bill like, which is not surprising as mr Tarantino guest directed on the movie. And there are heaps of well known actors in the 4 stories that make up the 2 hour flick. Bruce Willis, Mickey Rourke (Who i aint a fan of but his character's story is one of the best in the film), Jessica Alba (mmmmm), Clive Owen, Nick Stahl, Michael Madsen...and so on.
A good laugh and entertaining and a sequel is in the works!
